As many of you know, last year I decided to take a step back from my pie business. When I started selling pies out of my kitchen a few years ago, I thought it would just be a couple of pies here or there for fun. I never expected that a year later I would be voted #1 in the state for WMUR's viewer's choice of best pies! What an honor! The success of The Piesmith exceeded my hopes and dreams. Unfortunately, keeping up with the demand left me with very limited energy and time to enjoy summers and holidays with my own little family.
In 2019 health issues and loss of a loved one prompted me to reprioritize my life. The pie business remains low on the list. Because pie
crafting is a beloved family tradition, it is important that it remains a joyful task for me and never becomes a burden. In order for The Piesmith to remain a sustainable venture for me, the
following changes are effective immediately:
1. For the time being, I will not be accepting ordres with the exception of large volume event and holiday orders. Still, there is no guarentee that I can accept even these orders due to pandemic related scheduling conflicts, but you are welcome to inquire.
2. I will not be a regular fixture at the Barnstead Farmer's Market - all pie sales will be on a pop-up basis as my life allows and will not be on a regular schedule. Please keep an eye on the facebook page or the events section on my website for information about when/where these will be happening.
3. For pop-up pie sales, pies will be sold on a first come first serve basis. No holds will be allowed, and I will most likely not be taking orders on weeks when I have a pie sale happening.
4. As long as the coronavirus is a concern, sales will be contactless. For pop-up pie sales, be prepared to pay in exact cash or check as change might not be available. I can take cards so long as you are willing to read me the card info from 6 feet away, or via phone call somewhere more private. For orders, remote card payment is preferred. I can take your card info over the phone or I can e-mail you an invoice with a link to my secure payment platform.
In a world where the addage "the customer is always right" reigns supreme, I am aware that this does not seem like sound business practice. However, making pies has never been about the money for me, but about giving people in my community a reason to gather around their tables together. Love and Joy are essential ingredients in any Piesmith pie, and by fostering an abundance of these in my life, I hope to be able to pour them into yours. Thanks for your ongoing support and enthusiasm for what I do!
